Aaron Godwin, LEED AP, Founder/Prime Professional Consultant
Aaron Godwin is a leading figure in renewable energy development in Ohio and the founder of The Renaissance Group, a Conserve First LLC company. His firm specializes in site assessment, efficiency, conservation, renewable energy, custom engineering, and green building applications.
As a member of the Ohio Wind Working Group and Co-Chair of the ASES Small Wind Division, Aaron has played a pivotal role in advancing wind energy in the state. He has contributed to significant projects like the Cleveland Crib Wind Monitoring Project, the region’s only offshore wind monitoring station, and has managed renewable energy projects for entities like Cleveland Metroparks and the City of Cleveland.
Aaron’s expertise extends nationwide, where he has consulted on new turbine designs and worked with the National Renewable Energy Lab (NREL) and the Department of Energy (DOE). He holds a degree in Environment and Society from Hampshire College, and his career includes teaching, leading expeditions to the Canadian Arctic, and working on community planning and empowerment initiatives.
William A. Spratley, Strategic Advisor
William A. Spratley, serving as the Strategic Advisor for the Ohio Wind Working Group, has led the statewide non-profit Green Energy Ohio since 2001, where he has leveraged his extensive experience in the utility and energy sectors. As Ohio’s first Consumers’ Counsel and a national utility consultant, Bill has developed a vast network of contacts at federal, state, and local levels, significantly enhancing the credibility and visibility of GEO.
His achievements in the renewable energy field include receiving the Charles Greeley Abbot Award from the American Solar Energy Society (ASES) in 2012 and becoming an ASES Fellow in 2015. Bill also serves on the ASES Board of Directors and has been honored with the National Green Power Leadership Award in 2007 and the Wind Advocacy Award in 2006 from the U.S. Department of Energy.
A practicing attorney since 1973, Bill was Ohio’s first Consumers’ Counsel from 1977 to 1993 and was the founding President of the National Association of State Utility Consumer Advocates (NASUCA). He served on U.S. Department of Energy advisory boards under Presidents Carter, H.W. Bush, and Clinton. A graduate of the College of Wooster with a J.D. from Ohio State University’s College of Law, Bill and his wife Faye became solar homeowners in 2013 with a 4 kW rooftop array on their home in Worthington Hills.
Mark Cironi, Director of Technology Initiatives
Mark Cironi serves as the Director of Technology Initiatives for the Ohio Wind Working Group, bringing over 30 years of experience in corporate management, sales management, and project management. Throughout his career, Mark has successfully sold, managed, and implemented advanced technologies in the information technology sector with industry giants like IBM, Oracle, and Digital Equipment Corporation. Under his leadership, significant projects at companies such as Alltel Corporation, Goodyear, Michelin, British Petroleum, Raytheon, and Lear Jet were completed with outstanding success.
Since founding Green Energy Technologies in 2006, Mark has leveraged local resources to develop innovative wind technology for the commercial and industrial markets. Notably, he is listed as the secondary inventor on the Wind Sphere® patent. Mark is also an active member of Green Energy Ohio, the Ohio Wind Working Group, and the American Wind Energy Association, where he continues to contribute his expertise to the advancement of wind energy.
