History
As the first utility-scale wind turbines in Ohio were installed near Bowling Green, on September 25-26, 2003 diverse stakeholder from 19 organizations began an educational and policy process to form a strategic plan to guide developing more of our statewide wind energy potential.

The Ohio Wind Working Group (OWWG) was originally organized under an OEE grant by Green Energy Ohio (GEO) and is now funded through a grant from the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL). OWWG is currently chaired by Tom Maves, Renewable Energy Specialist with the Ohio Energy Office (OEO). Similar groups in a number of states are working with the U.S. Dept. of Energy's Wind Power America program focused on commercial wind development.
