Financial Policies & Incentives

The Ohio Energy Office currently offers grants for non-residential renewable energy projects located in Ohio and in the service territories of one of the four participating electric distribution companies: AEP-Ohio, Dayton Power & Light, Duke Energy, and FirstEnergy

Program guidelines and application forms for the non- residential renewable grant opportunity are available at Ohio Energy Office’s website under Renewable Energy Program Notice of Funding Available (NOFA 08-09). (Read the "Notice of Funding Available" document to find minimum requirements for eligibility). If, after reading the "Notice of Funding Available" document, you still have questions, send them to me via e-mail at aef@odod.state.oh.us.

A renewable energy system may also be eligible for a federal tax credit. The tax credit is claimed on one's federal income tax return. Use IRS form 5695 and carry the results to Form 1040, line 52. Information on federal income tax credits for renewable energy systems is found at www.energytaxincentives.org/.
